I tried to download the student version but instead downloaded the two week trial. How do I connect that to the student account for a year?

If you go to https://www.tableau.com/academic/students, you should be able to gain access to your student account just fine. Make sure you remember to put your email to get the security key and to use that key to log into your student account when you install tableau.
